Coach Biography
TJ Anderson
Head Coach
I played basketball since I was very young. I grew up in a gym. I had great beginnings coming from a family of basketball players. My mother Inetta Anderson, Jeff Stuard All American basketball player in high school and the late Tyrone Bacon who made the All Army team. My uncle Joe Anderson is the all time scoring leader at St. Francies University. I grew up in Bally's Crossroads Community Center in VA it’s home to WNBA Penny Moore, NFL Player Charley Garner, and many other great players. I played for the Sliver Spring Blue Devils AAU team in 1990 and this is where I began the dream to play professional basketball in high school Honorable Mention in 1993 and was being recruited by Georgetown University. I choose to follow in my uncle’s footsteps and play at Mt. Aloysius Jr. College. From there I played for the Washington Wizards organization from 2000-2004. I choose to finish school and raise my son Nate Anderson.
I began my coaching career in 2006 under Brock Anders coaching staff at Huntingdon HS. At Huntingdon, under Coach Anders I was taught the in’s and out’s of the coaching game. Coach Anders took the time to give me a chance to learn and grow and develop under his system. In 2008 I had the chance to coach with the late Great Coach Swogger from Altoona. I developed my coaching style from his Summit basketball program. I've helped with the player development. We found a really good relationship and he became a very important part of my basketball family. From there, I went to State College to help out with different youth basketball programs. One program that I had the joy of helping and learning how to run and develop my own Youth Program under Glenn Sekunda and Andy Friberg’s program the PA Slam Youth basketball program. This is the best Youth Basketball Program out of State College. They have won Youth State Championships and continue to develop great basketball players. My son Nate played for this organization for three years and his development went through the roof. These two coaches are a big part of my basketball family.
In 2011, I was asked to come back to Huntingdon HS by Coach Nick Payne and help mentor and develop a group of kids that I worked with in their Jr High days. On this team was one of the most gifted athletes I have ever worked with Jeremy Posey of Cal University. We had a great season with Jeremy leading the charge we went 22-2. Through this process, I've developed the Cats basketball program. With the help of the Huntingdon School District and many Sponsors, we have been able to develop many athletes. I started this program with the understanding of teaching, mentoring and developing young men with in our community. What we've noticed is that once they went into Jr High, they all have made major differences on their teams. We are now in our third year with a record of 78-16. We were asked to run a AAU team named PA Warhawks for 16U players. We’re in our third year of the program and with a record 36-16 and having the chance to work with and develop some of the best talent in Central PA. Through the PA Warhawks We have a chance to take 16 and under kids to different states to play against different talented players. “My goal is to help develop the youth in our community and to put as many positive professionals in their lives while doing so”.
